Broadcasting ‘Institution’ Returns To Dalton Radio

Saturday, May 14, 2016

A familiar voice returns to Dalton radio on Monday.

Just two weeks after retiring as host of “Floor Radio” on WBLJ, Dave Foster will return as a contributor to a new show, “The Floor Report.”

“My last show was on April 29, and from what the radio station has told me, they got a lot of phone calls as messages asking them to continue a flooring show,” Foster said. “I only retired from the radio show. I’m still doing content for, so they asked ‘If you are still doing content for the website, what would be your thoughts about putting that on the air.’ The interviews that I do for the website will be broadcast on the radio, so I will be a contributor to the radio show, but I won’t be hosting it and producing it and all of the other aspects of a radio program.”

The show will air at 7:30 a.m. each weekday.

“It will run a little over a half hour. It will not be an hour-long program,” Foster said.

“Floor Radio” aired on WBLJ for 24 years.

“It has been a demanding lifestyle. It’s a time for me to step back and spend time with my family,” Foster said shortly before his retirement in April.

Larry Gibson, program director and operations manager at the North Georgia Radio Group, said they started getting emails and phone calls even before Foster’s final broadcast on “Floor Radio.”

“People were telling us ‘Dave has been such an institution for so long. We depend on his coverage of the floorcovering industry. Please don’t let this happen,” Gibson said. “The outpouring was incredible.”
