Chile's VTR to invest CLP 100 bln in broadband and HDTV

Chilean operator VTR plans to invest over CLP 100 billion next year to expand its broadband and high-definition TV offer, reports website Economias y Negocios, citing VTR general manager Guillermo Ponce. The company intends to use the investment to increase the capacity of its broadband service by at least 25 percent and host its video content on Chilean servers. The investment is equivalent to around a fifth of VTR's expected 2015 revenues of CLP 500 billion. The Liberty Global-owned operator ended the second quarter with a total subscriber base of 1.3 million and in July became the first MVNO in Chile to offer 4G services to its customers.
