Indonesia to Watch Rio Live as National TV Plans to Broadcast F1

Global TV has officially obtained broadcasting rights for Formula 1 race which means that Indonesian people will be able to watch Rio Haryanto, first Indonesian driver to compete in F1 racing, live.

“BREAKING NEWS! GlobalTV has officially obtain broadcasting rights for #F1Australia2016 in Indonesia... You can watch @Rharyantoracing #RioF1Australia !!,” said Global in its twitter account @globalseru, as cited by Antara news agency, Friday.

In its tweet, Global also mentioned that there will be 21 Formula 1 races held. The private national tv has also called on Indonesian people to support Rio in the races.

When asked if it will broadcast all races or only the first one, Australia Grand Prix, the television had asked to wait for further information on GlobalTV.

Rio Haryanto is the first Indonesian driver to participate in the prestigious car racing. At present, there are 22 drivers from all over the world who participate in it, and Rio is the only Asian driver to compete in this season’s F1 racing. The 23-year-old driver has joined Manor Racing Team.

The first race will be held at Albert Park circuit, Melbourne, Australia on March 20 at 16:00 local time. The race will consist of 58 laps at the 5.303 kilometer-long circuit.
