State run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has just issued advance purchase orders (APOs) to Finnish equipment maker Nokia and China’s ZTE for supplying mobile network gear for its upcoming Rs 6000 crore countrywide mobile network expansion.

"Over the next two years, BSNL will put up another 40,000 BTSs, which will be a combination of 2G, 3G, 4G sites. Nokia and ZTE as the L1 and L2 bidders will equally supply the network gear," Anupam Shrivastava, chairman, BSNL, told ET.

At present, BSNL has 1.3 lakh BTSs across the country.

The BSNL chairman expects the state-run telco to report higher revenue from operations in FY17 at Rs 28,700 crore from Rs 28,400 crore in the earlier fiscal.

Shrivastava also estimated BSNL to be Ebitda positive in FY17.

He said BSNL would also bring mobile connectivity to commuters on the Kolkata Metro Railway from Monday.
