Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. is consolidating its television programming functions and reorganizing its promotion and publicity divisions to better manage rapid growth, the Hunt Valley-based company said.
Sinclair appointed Arthur Hasson as chief operating officer of Sinclair Programming. Hasson, formerly chief operating officer of Sinclair Original Programming, had been in charge of new program development for Sinclair stations. He will report to the co-chief operating officers of Sinclair Television Group.
The broadcaster also promoted M. William Butler to senior vice president of promotion and corporate marketing. As vice president of programming and promotion, Butler had been responsible for programming Sinclair's stations.
Sinclair, the nation's largest producer of local news, owns, operates or provides services to 163 television stations in 79 markets. The company has been expanding aggressively into developing its own program content and looking for ways to control more content.
