TVI Wins Rights To Broadcast Live EPL Duels

The General Manager of the Dar es Salaam- based television station, TV 1, Joseph Sayi unveiled yesterday in the city that the station has acquired the rights to broadcast live the English Premier League which is scheduled to kick off on August 13.

“Econet Media Limited-Kwese, a free sports TV which holds the licence of EPL Free TV has given us (TV1) the rights to broadcast live the league in Tanzania for free, so it will be a great opportunity for the country soccer fans to watch live all league matches without dipping deeper into their pockets,” he said.

Sayi has also assured the EPL fans of quality actions broadcast for the eight month long league by bringing the league highlights and pre and post–matches analysis from famous analysts Leakey Abdallah and other guest analysts who will be invited.

According to Sayi subscribers of Star Times and Ting decoders which TV1 is found on channel 103 and 39 respectively, will enjoy EPL matches without paying more from their monthly subscription charges.

On her side TV1 Marketing Manager, Gillian Rugumamu said TV 1 is ready for the 33 weeks EPL actions and they will conduct several sports concerts throughout the country beginning with Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza and Mbeya regions.

Rugumamu added that the rights are important as they will ensure that as many fans as possible in the country can follow and enjoy the EPL. Speaking on production side TV1 Production Manager Mukhsin Mambo assured their viewers quality production as they have introduced three programs which will be showing the league highlight on Mondays and on Fridays.

This season’s EPL has been spiced up with big transfer spending and the coming of the world famous coaches in the league such as Man City’s Pep Guardiola, Chelsea’s Antonio Conte, Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.

Econet media has signed an agreement exclusive broadcaster of EPL free TV in Sub-Saharan Africa, the firm has struck a deal valid for the 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons through its Kwese Sports platform and will make available one Saturday afternoon Premier League match live on a freeto- air basis each weekend of the season.

Econet Media is giving DSTV a run for its money, as it has signed a deal with the English Premier League to show premier league matches for free.
