Pressreleases

GlobeNet, a wholesale telecommunications infrastructure provider in the Americas, has selected technology from Ciena  to deliver 200G wavelengths across its 23,500 km of the system of submarine fiber optic cable that crosses the American continent. The implementation will help GlobeNet improve the resilience of its network, increase system capacity and reduce latency.

Key data:

  • GlobeNet is a wholesale telecommunications company offering a variety of international data capabilities ideal for operators and service providers looking to expand their own registered network infrastructure.
  • By deploying Ciena's GeoMesh Extreme solution , which includes the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform supported by the WaveLogic Ai coherent optical communication system , GlobeNet can guarantee network availability as it could proactively address possible failures, through the intelligence and automation of software.
  • To increase the capacity and redundancy of GlobeNet's submarine network, Ciena's solution is configured with a Packet / OTN architecture, which ensures connectivity between multiple sites with 200G wavelengths to handle data growth. This additional resilience in the event of failures guarantees the service so that GlobeNet can protect the enormous amount of capacity that WaveLogic Ai carries. In addition, Ciena's Blue Planet Manage, Control, Plan (MCP) software improves network visibility through real-time software control.

Comments from Directors:

  • "We are proud of our ability to offer customers a variety of capabilities, from Ethernet operator services to managed placement environments and network virtualization. Our investment in Ciena network solutions highlights our commitment to provide customers with reliable and reliable data services, even in the face of unforeseen situations. " - Eduardo Falzoni, CEO, GlobeNet
  • "This implementation is a testament to our experience in connecting the world to open submarine networks through a combination of flexible network solutions and support equipment. This resilient and cost-effective solution will give GlobeNet the highest available capacity, and also the possibility to expand and create more adaptable networks. " - Ian Clarke, Vice President, Global Submarine Systems, Ciena
