ZTE releases an outstanding SuperDSS solution for dynamic spectrum sharing with triple RAT
20 February 2020
ZTE Corporation, a leading international provider of technology solutions for telecommunications, businesses and consumers for the mobile Internet, today released SuperDSS , the only option in the industry for dynamic spectrum sharing with three RATs. This is a giant step forward in the innovation carried out by the Magic Radio Pro solution in the 5G era towards sharing the spectrum with multiple RATs, when the FDD bands are preparing for 5G. With dynamic spectrum sharing features both between 2G / 4G / 5G and between 3G / 4G / 5G, SuperDSS is the ideal choice to speed up the adoption of 5G while continuing to offer voice services on the 1800MHz or 2100MHz band, ensuring optimal ROI .
To launch this solution, ZTE made use of cutting-edge technologies and extensive commercial experience in the field of "spectrum sharing", the pillars of the infamous Magic Radio Pro solution that integrates the proposals with two existing RATs, offering operators much more flexibility for the implementation of 5G and making ZTE once again a leader in the field of technological innovation in the sector.
The SuperDSS solution supports complete dynamic sharing between 2G / 4G / 5G or 3G / 4G / 5G on both the 1800MHz and 2100MHz bands for the use on demand of the spectrum also by 2G or 3G while offering all the spectrum resources possible for LTE and NR, thus ensuring both legacy voice services and 5G offer with a perfect balance. Considering, for example, the 20 MHz bandwidth, at least one UMTS carrier is normally reserved for the voice requirements of UMTS users, therefore the DSS 4G / 5G can only be run on the 15 MHz bandwidth. But thanks to SuperDSS, 3G, 4G and 5G networks can share all the 20MHz bandwidth, while the one destined for the UMTS carrier is adjusted in real time based on the actual traffic.
ZTE's Magic Radio Pro solution is the most complete multi-RAT spectrum dynamic sharing solution on the market; contemplates up to seven scenarios and five radio access technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE, NB-IoT and NR). Technological leader in the sector, ZTE has been operating in this field since 2014, to help operators improve the user experience and be more competitive, facilitating effective transitions from existing technologies to new ones with great results in terms of investments.
