Television viewers who receive FOX 21 KQDS-TV over the air broadcast will soon need either a digital television set or a digital converter box in order to continue watching the channel over the air.
A news release from KQDS FOX 21 Television said the station will upgrade its outlying translators in several regions of Minnesota and Wisconsin to transmit a digital broadcast signal. The upgrades are expected to happen in the next two weeks.
The change will impact the following translators stations:
• International Falls channel 45
• Grand Rapids channel 29
• Hibbing channel 15
• Virginia channel 47
• Ashland channel 45
• Hurley (Ironwood, MI) channel 32
• Hayward channel 31
As these translators go offline and are replaced with DTV equipment, viewers will need either a digital television set or a digital converter box in order to receive the FOX 21 KQDS-TV over the air broadcast. The upgrades will allow viewers in these regions to have an enhanced viewing experience once completed, said the news release. This will include high definition reception of the main FOX 21.1 channel as well as the dot 2 channel, Antenna TV.
Cable and satellite system viewing of these channels will not be impacted during the upgrade process. But viewers may experience outages of the over the air KQDS-TV signal while the work is being done.
