Officials at WBZ-TV said late Sunday that they were continuing to work on the day-long transmission outage that affected many viewers, pledging to fix the issue as quickly as possible.
The problem emerged Saturday, and continued into Sunday evening — affecting many who had hoped to watch the New England Patriots take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on the CBS-owned station (Channel 4).
The problem initially affected Dish, Direct TV, over-the-air viewers, and some cable customers, the station said. The company reported Sunday afternoon that it had restored service to Direct TV and Charter Cable subscribers as it work with tower crews on further fixes.
“We understand this is both frustrating and inconvenient,” Mark Lund, WBZ president and general manager, wrote in a statement Sunday night. “Tonight, we would like to extend our sincere apologies to our loyal viewers.”
