Bangalore proposed to house tallest sky tower

India is to house the world’s tallest tower with a 560 metres sky tower to be built at Tippasandra, Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. The proposed structure is to surpass the Canadian National Tower which reaches the height of 553 metres.

Investment
The tower will be constructed under a public-private partnership model with estimated cost being approximately 150 crores. Around 5.2 acres of land have been sanctioned by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy for the project. The tower is estimated to be completed in two years’ time from the initiation.

Project Details
The sky tower was earlier proposed to be built in Freedom Park but was later relocated due to infrastructural problems. The sky tower has been built to boost communications, tourism and commercial activities. It strives to be a major revenue generator for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Having a microwave dish platform at 410 metres the tower will augment inter departmental and overseas communications of important government departments like the Railways, Police and Broadcasting of Doordarshan and All India Radio. Four floors in the tower will be allocated for these organisations. Four more floors will be earmarked for private telecom giants for setting up their infrastructure. The floor diameter, kept at 350 metres will serve as a microwave disc platform to facilitate live telecasts of major events within a radius of 100 kilometres.

According to the architect and designer, H R Vishwanath, solar energy will be tapped with the help of solar cells fitted at a height of 410 metres. Air navigational lights will be placed at the height of 560 metres.

The blueprint of the project is yet to be approved and is at present with the BBMP.
