Project Overview
Jakarta Tower is being built in the city of Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia. The tower will act as a commercial, multimedia and broadcasting centre. The construction of the tower was halted due to the Asian economic crisis in 1997. Construction has resumed in 2003 under the Bethany Church management.
Project Details
Once completed, the tower will stand up to 558 metres (1,831 ft) including the antenna. With an observation deck of 395.5 metres it is expected to stand as one of the tallest freestanding structures of the world.The Tower is expected to be completed by 2010 or 2011. The flagship project is undertaken by a consortium of more than 100 companies and individuals, the PT Prasada Japa Pamudja. One of the pioneers behind the project has been the Benthany Church. The tower is being built with putting all the television and radio stations spread across Jakarta at one place. On completion of the tower, all multimedia companies of Jakarta will be housed in one building. Future broadcasters will also be provided digital solutions. It will make the transition to digital broadcasting much easier.
