The Broadcasting House of BBC is presently undergoing extension and renovation in order to house a state-of-the-art facility and one of the largest broadcasting facilities of the world.

The project is to be completed in two phases. The first phase would cost around £110 million while the second phase would take £290 million.
Project Details
The project is to be conducted in two stages. The first stage constitutes of the refurbishment of the original Broadcasting House. The building is being carefully restored in collaboration with the European heritage—the key heritage spaces of the building are being restored. Overhaul of the technical studios and redesign of the workspace are being done to incorporate open plan areas, in addition to the construction of four new storeys and an East Wing. The Phase I of construction has been completed in 2005.
The Phase II of construction includes the addition of a new extension which would be home for a spacious and modern broadcasting centre equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It will house all the BBC news divisions and is expected to have the largest newsroom in the world. The building will include 36 radio studios, six television studios and six studios with editing and graphic facilities. Construction is estimated to be completed by 2009 – 2010.
